Hello everyone
I’m Kerajes, a self-taught artisan located in Baltimore Maryland. I love creating peculiar pieces of art. My passion consists of Handmade art, altering glass vases, bottles, jars and boxes. Steampunk themes and mixed media are my most favorite platforms to work with. In 2015 I began reupholstering furniture and enjoyed doing that for quite some-time. I looked for workspaces in my area to continue my upholstery quest. After realizing the cost to rent a workspace I had to come up with a solution. I said to myself just sell vases. There were tons of vases sitting around my house because I enjoyed collecting them. I’ve always had a thing for glass. After posting on craigslist, offer up and letgo and not getting very far; I had to go back to the drawing board. I thought to myself; these vases are too plain. They needed to have more spunk. From there I watched my first video on YouTube ( lindys gang). This young lady turned an ordinary vase into a wonderful masterpiece. The seed had been planted; To the craft store I went. In just a few weeks I had a fully functional art studio equipped with endless amounts of supplies in my living room. My coworkers would collect objects around the hospital for me to use in my pieces. I did my first holiday bazaar in 2017 and got incredible feed-back. The realization that I was on to something great began to sink in. Art has always been imbedded in me even as a child. I’ve always been the creative one and decorator. I can go up in my head and create just about anything. In twelfth grade I took four art classes. I encourage anyone to give art a try. Art has a variety of good rewarding qualities. It’s very therapeutic to say the least and it also helps you to unlock mysteries and secrets hidden within. Everyone's creative side is always waiting to be exposed. I’m living proof that art can save your life. I’ve always been different; it wasn’t until I began to take art seriously that I discovered why. I don’t identify with the ordinary people of the world. I’m often scrutinized because my art shows through me. People don’t understand why I’m always colorful from my head to my feet. They don’t get my bubbly personality. Once I discovered art it all began to make sense. I’m not supposed to fit in what artist does. Art allows me to be free and not worry about things that serve no purpose in my life. I would like to continue to tell my story through art. My dream is to open a store filled with articulate treasures. I would also like to travel the world sharing my art with others. I dream of my art being on display in art galleries someday. To me anything is possible it only takes a dream and the rest can and will be history.
